We've all been there, you go to print something, send it to the printer and it jams or you want to cancel it because you've noticed an error on the document. You plan to cancel the print job, correct the error and reprint.
Usually when you right click the print job and click "cancel" very little happens.
Your options usually are:
1. Reboot. Most people resort to this, which is a huge pain and not really practical when your working.
There is an easier way... Although might be a little fiddly for novice users. This was tried and tested with Vista but should work the same in XP also.
Press the windows key + R to open the run dialog box. Type "services.msc" and hit enter.
In the window that opens, scroll down until you find "print spooler", right click and click "stop".
Now leaving that window open. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
Delete all the contents of this folder.
Go back to the services window, right click the "print spooler" service and click "start".
A pain in the a** i know, but it saves restarting the PC.
Alternatively there is a small freeware application worth a download if you work in an office and/or encounter this regularly.
It's a small batch command which basically does the above, automatically. Download Print Flush (511 Bytes - 0.5KB)
Until Microsoft resolves this issue, which has existed through all versions of window that I remember, these are OUR options.
Hope that helps. :-/
