Recently, especially since AVG 8 was released and gone was the excellent free anti virus we all known, trusted and liked...
Instead there were all manner of annoyances and nags to buy...
Some people even thinking it doesn't still automatically update itself...
Looking around the net for anti virus recommendations 6 months ago would have lead you to AVG every time. Now it appears Avast! is being suggested instead...
Avast! always was a great antivirus program but fell short of AVG on some features and AVG became the trusted leader. Looks to me that this could be turning around leaving Avast! in the lead.
I've now eventually switched to Avast!, I'll see how it goes over the next few weeks...
