i'd be grateful for some advice, i have wireless broadband to my desktop pc. what i want to know is. i want to get a laptop, can i run a desktop and a laptop on broadband at the same time, thanks

You can absolutely run a laptop and a desktop pc on the same broadband, as your broadband is wireless that tells me you have a router, crucial if you want to share your broadband, if both the desktop and laptop are wireless then no problem they will both connect to the router just fine.
If one is wireless and the other is wired you'll need an Ethernet cable to plug from the wired computer to one of the routers 4 Ethernet ports.
