Laptops just dont crash from their types... the laptop itself would be more to blame, or maybe you did something you shouldnt have...

But that doesnt mean you should just not buy from that company ever again.

Thats like having one good Acer laptop crash and suddenly your behind for months or maybe years to come, all beucase you decided not to buy Acer laptops from one crash.

I suppose that is true- although having HP desktop computers growing up- it just not my cup of tea.

Hmm.... In reply to El3utterfly's comment I wouldn't recommend Dell.

They are similar to apple in the way that you can only really get service from them or it voids your warranty, a lot of the parts for dell computers are dell only parts. (other common replacements wont work)

I really would avoid companies like HP, DELL, COMPAQ and TOSHIBA,  I'm not saying they don't make some excellent equipment but you are better off with companies like Acer and Asus.

Check out some laptops at Micro direct Steve, They are local to you, prices are fantastic and the laptops are good too. There is a banner link to Microdirect's website hovering around this Thread.

If your still not sure Steve, have a browse though Microdirect's site and give Morgan computers a look too. Choose some that fit your budget and put the links (website address in the address bar, where you type Google.com ect...) copy and paste that here and I'll filter out the good deals for you...

Check that out, very good for the money, with a SATA HDD too! The battery life leaves alot to be desired but the screen is very good apparently. I just bought one with no OS Bargain!

Just to update anyone reading this, The screen on that laptop above has a very bad vertical viewing angle, it's cheap feeling and very flimpy, edges of the trackpad are quite sharp too... Battery life really is around 45 minutes. I sent mine back ages ago. Only reason I looked at that was because it's rare to find a laptop available for sale with no OS installed. I don't want to buy another OS when I'd have been putting my own on it...  :-/
