You ever not been able to find a specific driver? Here is the site full of drivers. If your driver isn't on here, Its ancient.

(I am thinking formatting a hard drive erase the HD so downloading a driver might do the same.)

If you download a driver (software?) Does the information on the driver get deleted?

I don't fully understand what you mean,
so you're downloading a driver then reformatting the Hard drive? And you're asking if your driver you downloaded gets deleted? Then yes, it probably will.
